Student Exchange Programme

In an increasingly competitive labour market, and with the increased internationalisation of higher education as such, the ECIU acknowledges the importance of providing students with opportunities for going abroad for one or two semesters.

The ECIU aims to facilitate an increase in the number of exchanges between ECIU members, primarily through the use of the Socrates Erasmus Programme.

Information about studying at ECIU universities can be found by following the links at the foot of this page. If you are interested in going on an exchange to one of the other ECIU institutions, you need to speak first of all with members of staff in the International Office at your institution. As there are different regulations for exchanges at the different ECIU members, it is crucial that you do this and that you do not approach the institution you would like to go to in the first instance.

A select number of ECIU members are also engaged in the ECIU Student Exchange Programme: Aalborg, Aveiro, Autonoma in Barcelona, UT Compiegne, Dortmund, Hamburg University of Technology and Twente). This programme combines a study abroad period with an internship at a foreign enterprise or at a research lab in a university. The minimum duration of the study period is three months. The same applies to the internship, which normally follows the study period. Whenever possible, scholarships will be provided for participating students from the European Union's Socrates/Erasmus and Leonardo da Vinci programmes. Efforts will also be made to find paid internships for students, although internships are not guaranteed.

The purpose of the ECIU Student Exchange Programme is to give students a competitive edge in today's global employment market. Students who have successfully completed both a study period at another ECIU university and an internship at an enterprise based in the host country will be awarded a special ECIU Certificate signed by the Rectors of the participating universities.

Students will not be charged any tuition fees at the host university. All the universities participating in the ECIU Student Exchange Programme have International Offices offering quality services for both incoming and outgoing students.
