The name of the consortium is European Consortium of Innovative Universities to underline the European
dimension of a limited group of innovative universities dedicated to the development of an
innovative culture in its institutions, and to play a catalytic role for innovation in industry and for society at large.
The consortium has over the years worked on a number of activities within the fields of Education, Research,
Regional Development and Institutional Development.
ECIU has established an 'Extended Secretariat' to support networking activities. Each partner has appointed a 'local co-ordinator'
who promotes ECIU and facilitates students and staff who want to develop co-operative activities in the Consortium. The
local coordinators can rely on the support from the Central Secretariat, based at the University of Strathclyde
(

Those who want to conduct a partner search or who are looking for support to develop co-operative activities
are invited to contact the ECIU Local Coordinator at their home institution of the central ECIU Secretariat.

A more extensive description of ongoing
activities can be found in the other chapters of this website.
The Executive Board is the decision-making body of the association and meets twice a year. Each ECIU member institution
appoints one delegate for the
Executive Board. Once a year a General Meeting
is held focussing on topics of general interest to the ECIU members and the meeting is open to all interested staff at the ECIU institutions.
